Who is it for?

FAIRS’24 at AI-2024 will allow doctoral and MRes/MPhil students working on AI related projects to discuss their research and PhD experiences with senior academics in the field and with other Forum attendees. Students eligible to apply include those who have either completed a Master's degree in an AI field and who are interested in progressing to a PhD, or are current doctoral or research Masters students. The event will give students the opportunity to receive feedback in addition to the supervisory arrangements at their own institution.

Student discussion workshops
These will allow students to get together with others to discuss any difficulties or issues with the conduct of their research, such as selecting a research subject, writing about their work (potentially for publication), dealing with setbacks etc. If you have received any useful advice, have any tips, or developed your own ways of working which may be interesting or useful to other research students, please be ready to talk about these!

The student discussion workshops will be split into parallel streams depending on current stage in the PhD process.

  • Early stage students - Discussions including (but not limited to) getting started, choosing a research topic, setting up ways of working, doing literature searches etc are entirely appropriate for this session - please feel free to contribute, however early in your PhD career you are.
  • Later stage students - second half of your PhD. Discussions may include writing for publication, attending conferences, dealing with setbacks, supervision difficulties, the viva, future employment etc.
